Summer Savored

Nomads By Nature: The Adventures Continue

P1130425This lake in the Black Hills of South Dakota had us pulling over and getting out of the car for an impromptu exploration. Stairs led down the the edge of the water and introduced us to a path that circled around and proved to be too tempting for siblings not to investigate further.

P1130419What started off as just bare feet testing the temperatures, turned into rolling up shorts and seeing how far out they could go. It was just the two of them – but hubs and I did spy on them a while from along the path where we wandered to check out a bit for ourselves.

P1130430P1130433Summer time for us has always been about traveling back to the U.S.,  to see family, to let the kids some enjoy great cousin time, and to spend some great family time together for us. These summertime travels have always been wonderful…

Trapped in a spider’s web

Ends and Beginnings

spider web

I am OCD primarily about three things; a clean and organized car, a clean and organized garage and a clean and organized workshop. Notice a trend? All three of these are “my” space. I don’t worry about a clean house, clean sheets or clean towels, I have a OCD wife that takes care of that for us. It’s good to have OCD balance in a household.

Sunday morning, as I was surveying my neatly arrange garage though commiserating that I needed to sweep it out, I noticed a moth caught in a spider’s web under my hot water heater. It was a sad sight watching the moth struggle as the spider spun its web around it. If I didn’t intervene this would be a death sentence for the moth. Honestly even if I did help there would be no way to free the moth’s wings from the spider’s sticky thread. Either…

Stolen Identity

As you rightly said, they can only steal your ‘your legal identity’ but your identity in Christ is hacker free. This is awesome and the way to go girl. If those who throw stones and blocks in our way thinks they can stop us, then they have missed the way because HE who is in US is greater than the WORLD. Forget the stealing and go forward. They will not amount to anything those who stay in darkness to throw stones at those in light.

BeautyBeyondBones

Sooo my identity got stolen this weekend.
200-2

Yeah…

And believe me, the irony was not lost on me that this happenedright after I revealed my identity on this blog.

And after spending countless hours on-holdon the phone with various credit card companies and banks and computer troubleshooters, and online accounts, Iwas…emotionally exhausted, to say the least.

I was feeling utterly defeated.

And as someone who habitually doesn’t carry cash, I literally had 12 dollars to my name this weekend, with all my credit cards stopped and my bank account put on hold.

Thankfully, by the time you’re reading this, my new cards should have arrived, but let’s just say I learned the value of a dollar this weekend for sure.

I learned thatreal fast.

200-3

And I was texting with my mom, and she said something that really made me think.

She said, that when you’re trying to…

Buildings of the Past

In this age of fast food, fads and now mentality, a look at the past seems time wasting but how do we think of the future without looking at the past ? How do we understand the present and prepare for tomorrow without a glance at where we are coming from?

Cooking Adventures

I am amazed by all the buildings and homesteads of the Past. I have made a point to stop at some as the curiosity gets the best of me.
Here is one such building that is in between Brule River and Port Wing, Wisconsin. I had never seen a merry go round like this. We had only been here for five minutes when the care taker had stopped by to clip some weeds. She walked us through the building and talked of the dances this school held.
Here is one of the classrooms, unfortunately after snapping this picture I was told that these set of desks were not original, but close enough.
The old piano that you see, is original and it still held a tune even though there was sadness that it no longer had the ivory keys, only the wood remained.

This chalkboard is a reminder of the…

shouting for GOD?

“The Seven Social Sins are: Wealth without work. Pleasure without conscience. Knowledge without character. Commerce without morality. Science without humanity. Worship without sacrifice. Politics without principle.― Frederick Lewis Donaldson Raise a big shout. Raise shout for God so that he can hear us. He has not gone on a journey; it may be that he … Continue reading shouting for GOD?

A Letter Home From Melbourne

Every individual in a new land will feel what you penned here. It reminded me of my feelings when i landed in Perth Western Australia in 2008. I was lonely, culture shocked and floating in a city I couldn’t master or muster. However when I was leaving Perth in 2012 I wanted to stay back because I now had families , friends and colleagues who had enhanced my life and enriched my life. So what you felt is normal and I can bet it by the time you have lived in this city you described for some years, you will not believe your perception of the city again. This in summary is what makes us HUMAN- the ability to adapt to either good or evil, comfort or discomfort, newness or staleness.

guess what,
mother,
people are packed closer here

foreign bodies stick together
under putrid heat
I can barely breathe
as the crowded tram
crawls up swanston street

and the boy
with sharp elbows
digging into me
is tethered to sanity
through lime-green earphones
that barely blocks out
6pm traffic
and all these strange heart beats
