“One of the most spiritual things you can do is embrace your humanity. Connect with those around you today. Say, “I love you”, “I’m sorry”, “I appreciate you”, “I’m proud of you”…whatever you’re feeling. Send random texts, write a cute note, embrace your truth and share it…cause a smile today for someone else…and give plenty of hugs.”
― Steve Maraboli
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
― Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
the spiritually oriented person
The spiritually oriented individual develops more of his spiritual essence than other areas of his existence. This type of individual is more interested in spiritual aspects of this life. He prays, fasts, mediates and generally tries to develop the spiritual areas of his or her life. The problem however is the fact that he spends a greater time on spiritual matters rather than taking care of his body or even mental development. He is always doing things that will help his spiritual being to soar. This individual tries to keep the contact with the great power in him. The manifestations of the Creator shows in what he does. He becomes a model and a person to be emulated in all things. A paragon of modesty, humility and always a man whom everyone wants to be like. He radiates happiness and impacts the life of those he comes in contact with. The above happens if he develops the spiritual aspect of himself positively. This development however gives him a skewed development. He becomes unbalanced because after some time he begins to lose the grasp of the present world. He tends to travel and transverse other dimensions or realms of existence that are not open to the ordinary or well balanced person. Though he gets more emendations and power from the Almighty father, at a point in time, he will be continuously drawn to the spiritual realm.
After developing the spiritual side of his person to an extent, the spirit-soul within him can no more cope with being here on earth. Such soul, therefore, escapes through the death of the physical body. This may make him to die young but he may not have finished his appointed duty here on earth. If the individual develops his spiritual essence negatively more than other aspects of his being through involvement in occultism, witchcraft, necromancy and other negative manifestations of spiritual and mystical power; there is the tendency to become an adept in his aspect. He becomes powerful in the exhibition of this power and in most cases lives long enough to start reaping the atrocities he has sown through the misuse of the spiritual essence. In some cases he has to perform rituals and deeds that will continuously extend his life span until the Almighty father wants him. Any time he is ripe for death; death always comes for such a person. After his death he will still pay for all the activities or misuse of God’s power that he has performed while living. In case he develops the spiritual essence positively, the individual may become withdrawn from the society. He goes into seclusion or renounces all things materialistic and commune always with the Creator. Such people do contribute positively to the development of mankind either in thoughts, philosophy, ideas or even science. People like St. Augustine, St Francis of Assisi, and Mother Teresa in India fall into this category.
