“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”
Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”
Lao Tzu

he looked at me

and smiled.

a deep satisfying smile

a beckoning, warm

and inviting smile

then he said:

flower

is the language of LOVE.

yes,

i replied and mused.

after leaving him

his sentence

echoes in my ears

‘flower is the language of love’.

yes it is!

the symbol

understood by the involved.

can bystanders.

ever understand?

understand

LOVE intricacies?

is a flower understood

by the disinterested?

love is fragile

like the flower

an intricate, complex

and beautiful object

only appreciated

through experience.

just as the flower,

so also is love.

do you ever see love

sitting with the rash, brash

and the rough?

love is like flower

delicate, sweat smelling

and radiant

when well tendered

and groomed.

love’s cultivation

is tough, rough

and dirty

tiring, nauseating

and frustrating.

you clear the ground,

turn the soil,

add manure and plant

you consistently water,

and then tend

the young sapling.

love not well tended

and pruned

grows chaotic.

well tended

it demands tenacity.

never give up

your WILL

or it wilts to the roots.

the flower like love

minus nourishment and care

quickly wilts.

love is a flower

flower is love.

in nature

an uncultured flower

grows wild

like uncultured love

becomes wild and unwieldy.

an unhampered,

unhindered flower

grows and blossoms

bringing smiles and happiness

to man, homes,

offices and places.

inhibited unrestrained,

unhampered love

bring smiles to MANY

and joy to its possessor.

so…tell me

is love not a flower ?

is flower not love

in nature?

so

lets cultivate our love.

let’s cultivate love

in a way that

it keeps on beautifying

US.

in a manner

that even when we leave

even when we are no more

its fragrance still endures

animating and elevating US.

just like the flower animates

let love’s fragrance endure

and elevate our souls

let love elevates US

enhancing our being and souls.

just like the FLOWER!
