“There are ultimately only two possible adjustments to life; one is to suit our lives to principles; the other is to suit principles to our lives. If we do not live as we think, we soon begin to think as we live. The method of adjusting moral principles to the way men live is just a perversion of the order of things.”
― Fulton J. Sheen
“People can’t live with change if there’s not a changeless core inside them.”
― Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
“He that always gives way to others will end in having no principles of his own. ”
― Aesop
unshaken, unmoved
it stood
unaffected and unbowed it stood
in the midst of the crashing waves
unbowed, fixed,
stolid and solid
the rock stood
receiving the bathing and fluid waves
it stood unmoved
unshaken
a sign of ‘solidity’
as i looked
at the fluid waves
their incessant movement
freedom
contrasts with fetters
the rock
is moved from outside
the waves energy
are within
freedom and freewill.
